To enable us to book your practical driving test you must have first passed the DSA Theory Test.
The first part of the theory test consists of 50 multiple choice questions covering the highway code and various other elements of driving theory.
This consists of 50 multiple choice questions. In the actual test you select your answers by simply touching the screen. You need to touch the box alongside the answer or answers you think are correct. If you change your mind and don't want that answer to be selected, touch it again. You can then choose another answer. You need to get at least 43 out of 50 correct to pass. From 28 September 2009 some car and motorcycle multiple choice questions will be given as a case study. The case study will show a scenario that five questions will be based on. The subject of the scenario focuses on real life examples and experiences that drivers could come across when driving
The second part of the theory test is the hazard perception element, and this tests your ability to react to hazards as they develop in front of you. During this element of the test you must respond to the developing hazards by clicking a button on the mouse. You will be presented with a series of 14 video clips which feature every day road scenes, in each clip there will be at least one developing hazard, but one of the clips will feature two developing hazards.
To achieve a high score you will need to respond to the developing hazard during the early part of its development. The maximum you can score on each hazard is five and you will only have one chance to respond to the developing hazard. The pass mark is 44 out of 75.
We can recommend the following home study system for you to use, which should ensure that you pass first time.
The software we recommend for the theory test is Driving Test Success You can get it from PC World, Waterstones, some WH Smith and some of the larger supermarkets.

Remember to look at all the different Theory test centres within your locality as they all have different waiting times. You may be able to save a few weeks wait by travelling a few miles to another test centre
If used correctly, this home study system will avoid the cost of classroom tuition. If you put in the study time and achieve consistent passes on the home study system you should pass the theory test at the first attempt
Unlike some other companies that offer fast pass courses, we suggest that you have passed your theory test before you start your practical driving course and there are some very good reasons why.
-
Without having passed your theory test, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR ANYONE to book a practical test. So if you are told by another company thet they guarantee you a driving test for the last day of the course look at the small print. You will probably find "subject to availability from the DSA"
-
Even if a practical test can be found at very short notice you will probably not get any training in the area in which you will take the test. You may also have to travel a long way to get to the test centre. If the test is an early morning test, that will be the end of your course, will you just have had X number of days with a test at the end or the correct number of hours with a test at the end as you would with us.
-
We will book your practical test for you before you part with a penny, so you will know when and where your test will be before booking and you will get training in that area so you will know where all the awkward places are and how to deal with them.
-
There will be one less thing to worry about during your course and remember that if you did not pass your theory test you would not be able to take your practical driving test at the end of your course and that the time taken to actually sit the test is valuable time lost behind the wheel for which there is no substitute.
