14+ yr old High School Driving Course
Next Course Mon 21st December 09

If you are 14+ you can now get behind the wheel of one of our dual-controlled training cars..
Of course we can’t let you loose on the road but we have the exclusive use of a purpose built off road circuit in Preston that is ideal for early learners.
With first class tuition from a qualified instructor, you’ll learn the basics of how a car works how to start, and drive the car, negotiating turns, and all sorts of junctions safely.
Its serious stuff learning to drive, but it can still be fun and you should have a great day and learn a lot.
According to statistics:
-
One in five newly qualified drivers will crash within six months of passing the test.
-
Newly qualified drivers and their passengers account for one in five roads deaths in the UK..
-
Road traffic crashes are the biggest killers of young people today, not AIDS, cancer or any other disease.
These same statistics show that it is lack of experience, not age that causes so many newly qualified drivers to have collisions.
In Sweden, they have found that there is a direct correlation between the number of hours pre-test driving experience and the collision rate in new drivers.
This extra training has slashed young driver collision rates by 40% So, we have decided to help to make that training and experience available to anyone over the age of 16, (currently under review with insurance companies to bring the age down to 14 as long as they are at least 1.5m tall)
At the end of the course the pupil should be able to demonstrate competency in three key areas:
1. Demonstrate control of the car in different situations.
2. Understand how drivers should interact with others on the road.
3. Know how important it is to be in the right frame of mind – and have the self-knowledge and skills to ensure they can stay patient and remain focused The single greatest risk faced by young people is the road.
The combined effects of age and driving experience result in fewer crashes – the older the driver and the more driving experience, the lower the likelihood of being in a crash
Driving experience is the more dominant factor, particularly in the early months of post-test solo driving. In one UK study, during the first six months after passing the driving test, the number of crashes involving a driver of any age fell by a factor of 2.3 for male drivers and by 1.9 for female drivers; during the first year it fell by a factor of 3.6 for men and 2.7 for women
The more pre-test accompanied driving a learner has, the safer he or she may be
